Finished up with everything I needed to do, parked the truck, got my bike 100% gave mama a hug, rollin at 12:50, stopped and talked to my neighbor Edwin, Ive gotta call and make sure he can follow me.🤘🏻Down Shultz Rd. Towards Route 31 headed to the GAP in Smithon, good call Brucey Arrigo. 14.9 Miles of backroads, a couple hills on these fresh legs, oh and my bike is ridiculously heavy. I packed way too much food so I won’t be stopping anywhere to eat until I run out of food. Tuna and oatmeal for days!! Found the best free campground with firewood amazing “Cedar Creek Park Trekkers Campground” decided after just 15 miles I’m good here at 3:30 just over two hours of seat time, took the bike and went through everything, bike and gear solid. next destination headed towards Pittsburgh. Yes I know Key West is the other way but I figured I might as well do the entire Great Allegheny Passage first. Did some stretches had a fire and chilled. Met Joe and Marti, her father was a Seabee!! Saw a sweet blind lady riding her trike, her guide would ride behind her and direct her. Two other ladies they offered me some grapes. Very sweet. As the evening settles in I’m hearing the trains go by across the river pitch black out with a glow from a fireplace. An Owl hoots as I hear the trucks run down Route 70, the river the crickets the crackle. Pretty awesome way to start.
